About the Department

The Deprtment of Computer Science and Technology offers admission to M.Tech. programme in Computer Science and Technology and in Cyber Security. The objective of the programme is to impart advanced computer technology education to bridge the gap between industry and academia. The centre has well equipped state of the art Software Laboratory, Cyber Security and Research Laboratory for academics and research purposes. The unique environment of the centre encourages interdisciplinary research to solve problems beyond the scope of a single discipline. The aim of the centre is to focus on various research areas like wireless networks and their security, cloud computing, mobile computing, software engineering and image processing.
With the rise in the technology, many aspects of our lives rely on internet and computers, (including communications, finance, medicine, and education), the risks and the crimes have also increased. The Department of Computer Science and Technology is created to increase the awareness of the associated risks of computer and network use. It also involves protecting the information and systems we rely on every day. Today's networks contain several forms of wireless devices. Mobile ad-hoc network is a relatively new innovation in the field of wireless technology. These networks pose several challenges including security, bandwidth constraints, routing and power. Security is one of the most important aspects of this technology and it needs serious attention. The centre is focusing on the solution of problems in the field of ad-hoc networks, network security and information security.
Beside the above, centre also focus in the field of software engineering. Software engineering principles help the developer to write easily maintainable and understandable code for extensive source code languages available in the e-world. In the field, centre has good research publications for maintainability and prediction of software faults. Post graduate students are also pursuing the research in the wide area of software design metrics to analyse the internal characteristics and properties of the source code. Digital image processing finds a number of applications in important areas like image forensics, medical image processing, remote sensing, astronomy etc. Processing of images is necessary both for human interpretation and machine perception. Many M.Tech students registered under the supervision of the faculty members of the Department are working in the areas of digital image processing.

Vision:

To train the students in basics and advanced areas of Computer Science Technology. To serve the need of Society, Government and Industry.

Mission:

  • To impart quality education through a well-designed curriculum in tune with the needs of the Society, Government and Industry.
  • To provide excellent research facilities to generate knowledge and develop technologies in the thrust areas of Engineering and Technology.
  • To build an impact on society by strengthening the bond between industry and academia so that entrepreneurship and innovation can flourish

The Department of Computer Science and Technology is proudly running the Visvesvaraya Scheme for Ph.D. programs, and admissions for the 2025 academic year will be opening soon.
