Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and Entrepreneurship” 27th April 2022 as part of WORLD IP Day celebration.
About the Programme:
In order to celebrate World IP Day, “Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and Entrepreneurship” was organized on 27th April, 2022 with the following objective to get familiar with entrepreneurship opportunities and support system available for startup enthusiast and understand IP Policy and its importance. For the year 2022, the World Intellectual Property Day 2022's theme focuses on IP and Youth innovating for a Better Future.

The programme was organized by The Intellectual Property Right Cell and Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) of Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, in collaboration with the Punjab State Council for Science & Technology, Chandigarh, and the Dept. of Science and Technology, GoI.
Resource Person: Dr. Ashutosh Pastor, Manager, Startup Incubation at the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi shared entrepreneurship opportunities available in academia. He discussed the socio-economic impacts of entrepreneurship and highlighted that India has witnessed a rapid diffusion of entrepreneurship in the last five years. He introduced various incubation units of FIIT, including TBIU—Now NIDHI CoE (DST); Atal Incubation Center (AIM-NITI); and BioNEST (BIRAC), and discussed the role of incubators in providing the necessary support to start-ups right from the idea stage, product development stage, and go-to-market stage. -

Six workshops on “Patenting Strategies and Patent search exercise for invention in different subject domains” from 1st to 3rd Dec, 2021
About the programme:
The whole programme was classified into six invention domain and specific domain was assigned to the sixteen departments as appropriate. Participating departments included Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Natural Products, Department of Pharmacology, Department of Chemistry, Department of Environmental Science and Technology, Department of Physics, Department of Geography, Department of Geology, Department of Computer Science and Technology, Department of Computational Sciences, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Department of Human Genetics and Molecular Medicine, Department of Biochemistry, Department of Microbiology, Department of Applied Agriculture, Department of Botany and Department of Zoology.
Resource Person: Ms Neeta Rai and Ms Pragati Aggarwal from iTTO were the resource persons for the event. Ms Neeta Rai, Project Manager (Tech-Transfer) at iTTO gave an overview of Patent system of India emphasizing on patentable criterion and non-patentable subject matter. She also elaborated the process of patent filing in India. Ms Pragati Aggarwal, Senior Project Officer elaborated on the strategies adopted for Patent Search. She also mentioned different freely available Public databases which are helpful in patent literature search. At the end, participants were given hands on subject specific exercises. -

Innovation Council (IIC) and Intellectual Property Rights Cell (IPR Cell) organized an "Online Orientation Session on IPR and Process of IP filings" on 12th November, 2021.The programme was organized with an objective to motivate researchers for innovation and experts from Innovation-Technology Transfer Office (i-TTO) were invited to share their expertise during programme. iTTO is established by Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) under Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council BIRAC’s) National Biopharma Mission, a collaborative project of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India (GoI) and World Bank Ms Reema Sahni, Senior Project Manager, iTTO and Ms Pragati Aggarwal, Senior Project Manager, iTTO were resource persons. -

About the Programme and Resource persons:
Dr. K. N. Yogalakshmi, Associate Professor and Dr Preeti Khetarpal, Assistant Professor who had successfully completed Innovation Ambassador Training conducted by MoE's Innovation Cell & AICTE, New Delhi held online from 28th April to 22nd May 2020 were the resource persons of the event. Dr. Yogalakshmi K N briefed about the importance of prototype development. She also gave various examples and discussed type of prototype. Dr. Preeti Khetarpal, briefed about the benefits of product design and registration process in India. About the programme and Resource Person: Mr Karan Garg did his Bachelor of Technology (Pulp and Paper Engineering) from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, India and Masters of Business Administration (MBA Program)from Kellogg School of Management, Evanston, IL, USA. He is currently the Director of Multimelt Steels Pvt Ltd, Punjab. He briefed about the journey of an entrepreneur laying emphasis on importance of Critical thinking, Team work and raising capital.
He advised young entrepreneur to analyse their risk taking capabilities before starting out venture. He also discussed that each failure itself teaches lot of lessons. He also discussed various schemes for Start ups like CGTMSE and Startup incubators - World IPR Day 2021 was celebrated by organizing a “Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and IP management for start-up” on 28th April, 2021.

Participants were briefed about different forms required for patent filing, importance of maintaining confidentiality of the invention and importance of signing Non-disclosure Agreement (NDA). About 400 participants attended the event through Gmeet and youtube link of the event.

“Innovations during COVID19 Pandemic: India’s response to become a global leader”. Date: 7th April. 2021. Keynote Speaker Shri Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India, New Delhi Shri Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha gave his insight on the topic “AYUSH Initiatives in Covid-19”. He emphasized the fact that Ayurveda is not only our traditional knowledge but Science as well. He also elaborated various research initiative being taken by Ministry of Ayush for the management and treatment of Covid-19.Dr. Anasuya Roy, Founder & CEO, Nanosafe Solutions Pvt. Ltd, a technological start-up in collaboration with IIT Delhi, gave special innovation lecture on “Masking and its role as a Weapon Against COVID-19”. She elaborated on the origin of the innovative idea for the development of reusable mask. She also gave insight on the Zero alcohol, baby-safe moisturizing sanitizer and nano-copper technology imbibed bottles. Quiz Competition on General Awareness on IPRs (Intellectual Property Rights) was held on 8th November 2019Friday. A total of 6 teams (3 students per team) from different departments challenged each other in Quiz Competition and competed in 6 rounds. Department of Biochemistry and Microbial Sciences grabbed the first position The teams from the Department of Psychology and Department of Law stood second and third respectively.

About the Programme
Dr Yashwant Dev Panwar from Department of Science & Technology, GoI delivered lecture on “Deriving value of IPR in Academic Institutions” and Dr Yogmaya Verma from Biotech consortium India Limited delivered talk on “University Technology Transfer- Challenges and Opportunities”. More than 100 students, research scholars and faculty from different institutions participated in this programme.

Dr Ashwini Siwal, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law, Delhi University, Delhi discussed plagiarism and how to avoid it. Mr Kanan, Deputy Librarian, talked about the CUPB digital initiatives. Mr Bhupinder, Assistant Librarian, trained the participants on various Anti plagiarism softwares. Dr Preeti Khetarpal, Assistant Professor and registered patent trained the participants for patent literature searches on public databases.
